The Work You’ll Do As a Software Engineer II at Sovos, you are an experienced software professional who can operate effectively as an individual contributor in most circumstances with limited guidance and supervision. You’ll contribute to building and maintaining solutions that help over 100,000 customers worldwide navigate complex tax compliance requirements. This role also provides the opportunity to serve as a mentor and coach to more junior team members. More Specifically, You Will Facilitate basic Sovos SDLC meetings and apply knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Kanban, XP, etc.) Coach and mentor other team members, sharing technical knowledge and leading junior developers on shared stories and tasks Interact with internal stakeholders and customers around requirements, issues,CELLENT and other common matters RefineNest and improve development tools (IDE, Jenkins, Test Harnesses, etc.) Consistently develop high quality code consistent with Sovos conventions and accepted coding best practices, including design patterns Draft designs and documentation for major functionality Triage and resolve most customer escalations independently Consistently identify impediments and play an active role in their resolution Help other team members identify, elaborate, and solve problems Leverage AI‑powered development tools to enhance productivity and code quality Act with integrity and demonstrate ethical behavior in all matters with all stakeholders Take full responsibility for ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction Demonstrate initiative, drive, and determination to achieve results, success, and growth Develop trust and model open, candid, respectful communication and collaborative teamwork What We Need From You BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related software engineering experience Minimum 2 years of work experience AI‑first mindset with enthusiasm for leveraging automation and emerging technologies in software development Ability to interact effectively with teammates, colleagues, and customers Ability to comprehend and communicate complex concepts Ability to concentrate, analyze, and resolve complex problems Ability to utilize technology (e.g., phone systems, computer hardware and software applications) to fulfill work requirements Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire What Does Sovos Offer You?
