About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior E‑commerce Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for a dedicated portfolio of our fast‑growing e‑commerce clients. The ideal candidate will be an expert in online retail financial operations, focusing on revenue recognition, inventory management, and integration accuracy. This is a critical, 100 % remote role requiring deep proficiency in QuickBooks and the Shopify ecosystem. What You’ll Do E‑commerce Financial Management Own the month‑end and year‑end close processes for e‑commerce client entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting compliant with U.S. GAAP. Manage and reconcile complex e‑commerce revenue streams and payment processor settlements (e.g., Shopify Payments, PayPal, Stripe) to the General Ledger. Oversee inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, ensuring accurate valuation and tracking within the accounting system. Conduct detailed variance analysis on P&L accounts, focusing on sales performance, returns, and fulfillment costs. Ensure accurate recording and compliance for sales tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions. Accounting Systems & Compliance Serve as the technical lead for QuickBooks Online/Desktop, managing integrations and data syncs, particularly with Shopify and other relevant e‑commerce tools. Perform all core accounting functions: journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, AP/AR oversight, and bank/credit card reconciliation. Prepare comprehensive financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) and reporting packages for client review. Collaboration & Leadership Partner with client operations teams and marketing departments to provide actionable financial insights. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior bookkeepers and accounting staff. What You Bring (Requirements) 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused specifically on the e‑commerce or retail sector. Expert‑Level Proficiency (Must‑Have): Deep, demonstrable experience using QuickBooks Online and managing financial data integration with Shopify. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP principles, particularly in revenue recognition and inventory valuation. Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple client timelines simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
