Upper School English Teacher role at Nord Anglia Education – Saint George School, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Overview Saint George School (SGS) is a British international school offering Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Upper School English Teacher will deliver rigorous, inquiry‑driven instruction, support student agency, and foster a culture of global citizenship and resilience. Key Responsibilities Design and implement engaging, student‑centered lessons aligned with SGS curriculum standards for IGCSE and IB. Use inquiry‑based and active learning strategies to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem‑solving. Differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including ELLs and students with accommodations. Integrate technology to enhance learning and encourage digital fluency. Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes student voice and choice. Plan and administer standards‑based assessments, provide timely feedback, and use data to inform instruction. Collaborate with IB/IGCSE specialists, instructional coaches, and curriculum coordinators to refine best practices. Participate in professional development, PLCs, and action research initiatives. Mentor students academically and through university counselling, including extended essay and thesis guidance. Uphold SGS values of integrity, responsibility, resilience, respect, and empathy in all interactions. Contribute to school community engagement, co‑curricular programs, and enrichment activities. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Secondary Education or a subject‑specific field. Experience teaching IGCSE, IB, or international curricula (preferred). A minimum of 3–5 years teaching in an international, bilingual, or accredited school. Strong expertise in inquiry‑based learning, research skills, student‑centered methodology, and interdisciplinary instruction. Proficiency in English; Spanish is an advantage. Familiarity with standards‑based evaluation and assessment practices. Demonstrated commitment to cultural responsiveness, inclusion, and student well‑being.
