We are seeking a Linux Engineer/Administrator with a passion for Linux and Customer Success to deliver outstanding technical support for our Desktop and Server stack. Location This is a globally remote role, unless specified otherwise. Role Overview As a Linux Engineer/Administrator, you will own end‑to‑end support cases, provide technical expertise, and maintain knowledge base articles. You will participate in training sessions, team gatherings, and company events. Responsibilities Investigate issues reported by customers by researching and escalating as needed. Resolve complex customer problems related to Canonical’s portfolio of products. Ensure each support case is handled according to our SLA with highest customer satisfaction. Engage customers via phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions. Participate in a regular weekend working rotation. Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing ones. Understand Ubuntu development process to set realistic customer expectations. What we are looking for Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. Strong academic record or compelling narrative of an alternative path. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience. Track record of exceeding expectations and achieving outstanding results. Experience with Linux troubleshooting (logs, stack traces, config editing). Experience with Linux integration with authentication/directory services, network file systems, etc. Ability to navigate stack traces and logs, advise next steps, and understand OS/application bugs for escalation. Ability to learn quickly, thrive on change, and handle pressure of a customer‑facing job. Programming fundamentals in any language. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks. Extensive customer support experience with strong communication and expectation management.
