Program Overview Huckleberry Teen Health Program (HTHP) in San Rafael provides youth and families with support along a continuum of services that includes health promotion, education, screening, early intervention, and peer health education for Spanish-speaking communities and other areas connected to sexual and reproductive health. HTHP works in partnership with schools, community-based organizations, community clinics, and community members to address urgent adolescent health issues. Additionally, HTHP facilitates a weekly youth-focused clinic where youth receive confidential and no-cost sexual and reproductive health services using a model that integrates behavioral and mental health screening and intervention into clinic visits. All services are offered in both English and Spanish. Position Summary The Health Educator is deeply embedded in HTHP’s health promotion activities, responsible for planning, executing, and documenting educational workshops, adapting curriculum, supporting clinic flow, and conducting health counseling at Teen Tuesday Clinic. The role also includes community outreach, supporting intern and volunteer projects, leading additional youth enrichment activities, and developing and engaging social media content. Essential Functions Independently or collaboratively facilitate bilingual (English/Spanish) virtual and in‑person health workshops in schools and community settings covering topics such as consent, bodily autonomy, healthy relationships, contraception, STI/HIV prevention, and effective communication. Adapt and develop bilingual (English/Spanish) sexual and reproductive health workshops consistent with program goals and California Healthy Youth Act standards. Conduct sexual and reproductive health counseling for youth clients during Teen Tuesday Clinic both in person and via telehealth, providing accurate information, non‑judgmental support and linkage to appropriate services as needed. Assist in maintaining efficient clinic flow and provide lead support during Teen Tuesday sessions. Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all aspects of programming, including clinic services, workshops, and peer health education activities. Develop health promotion tools and resources for youth, professionals, and parents. Responsible for the development of social media health promotion content and engagement. Prepare and support the facilitation of peer health education programming and maintain communication with peer health educators. Support intern and volunteer projects. Participate in community outreach events and conferences. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, in‑services, growth plan, and regular supervision. Answer office phones and provide referral support for other programs. Occasional evening, weekend, or early‑morning work may be required. Exercise discretion and professional judgment at all times in keeping with the responsibility carried personally and by the agency for the care and welfare of youth and families. Actively strive to upgrade personal skills through engaging in appropriate professional training experiences. Work Environment This position operates from the Huckleberry Teen Health Program in San Rafael, Marin County, and spends the majority of time on school campuses at high school wellness centers. The role routinely includes use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax equipment. HTHP is currently taking advantage of remote work whenever possible. Physical Demands The employee must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit, and may also be required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and/or handle objects, tools, or controls. The position requires ability to remain actively engaged in a classroom or workshop setting for extended periods, including full‑day training sessions or instructional activities, maintaining focus and interacting with participants to facilitate discussions or learning activities throughout sessions. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Prior experience in public speaking and teaching health education workshops. Bilingual English/Spanish capacity with the ability to teach workshops in Spanish. Ability to translate and develop materials in Spanish. Experience working in health promotion and sexual and reproductive health. Proven history of excellent verbal communication and presentation skills. Experience working with professionals in schools or community-based organizations. Commitment to adolescent health, equitable healthcare access, reproductive justice, and antiracism. Proficiency in Canva design. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently. Highly organized, creative, innovative, and communicative. Ability to take initiative and work proactively. High level of professionalism and ethical standards. Preferred Education and Experience Knowledge of Marin County schools and resources for youth. Demonstrated understanding of public health principles, ecological models of health behavior, and strategies for health behavior change. Knowledge of equitable interventions and reproductive justice and health promotion. Additional Eligibility Qualifications TB clearance. Valid California driver’s license, clear DMV record, and reliable transportation. COVID‑19 vaccination. Security Clearance Must pass DOJ/FBI background check.
