Overview AOA is looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in solving complex backend challenges and delivering high-quality digital products. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about engineering excellence, scalable architectures, and high-performance solutions. The Senior Backend Engineer will play a key role in architecting and developing secure SaaS platforms and eCommerce storefronts, primarily within the Shopify Plus and Composable Commerce ecosystems. They will collaborate closely with designers, strategists, and other engineers to build and enhance web applications from scratch that balance functionality, speed, and scalability. Responsibilities will include architecting and implementing full-stack solutions, integrating third-party services, optimizing performance, and ensuring code quality through best development practices. This role requires expertise in backend (Node.js, AWS, and APIs) technologies. The ideal Senior Backend Engineer for AOA is a self-motivated technical leader, critical thinker, and detail-oriented developer. They should be comfortable working in an agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring other engineers. Above all, they should be passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and driving innovation through technology. Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $72,000.00/yr Responsibilities Key Outcome: deliver high-quality solutions that AOA is known for with predictability and efficiency Lead end-to-end development of web applications, contributing to backend code Design and implement scalable architectures using NodeJS and AWS ecosystem Work closely with clients and project managers to understand project requirements and translate them into technical solutions Provide technical expertise during client meetings, offering insights into the development process and potential enhancements Efficiently communicate project estimates and lead planning poker for user stories Work within an agile development environment, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and ensuring timely delivery of features Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application in our development process Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related field 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer, with a focus on backend development Strong proficiency in NodeJS and AWS infrastructure Expertise in building complex systems, microservices, and integration with third-party APIs Strong familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Leadership skills with a proactive approach to collaboration and team problem-solving Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Contract Job function Information Technology Industries IT Services and IT Consulting Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at AOA by 2x #J-18808-Ljbffr
