ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver the Backend for Frontend API layer for mobile clientsBuild server-side services in Java using Spring Boot and modern patternsImplement and maintain REST APIs with attention to usability and consistencyOptimize performance through profiling, analysis, and targeted improvementsWrite unit tests and enforce quality gates through continuous integrationRefactor and simplify codebases by improving or removing legacy code safelyFix defects quickly and prevent regressions through root-cause analysisCollaborate with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to ship featuresIntegrate with existing backend services and handle compatibility constraintsPropose solutions for ambiguous problems and communicate technical tradeoffsRequirements3+ years of Java backend development experienceStrong Spring Boot experience building server-side applicationsStrong REST API design and integration experienceStrong algorithms and data structures knowledgeStrong unit testing skills and experience with test automationBuild tool experience with CI pipelines and automated quality checksPerformance optimization skills for asynchronous and high-throughput servicesProblem-solving skills for open-ended technical challengesTeam collaboration skills in cross-functional environmentsSelf-starter mindset with ownership and initiativeBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experienceUpper-Intermediate English skills (B2) for clear written and spoken communicationNice to haveDocker experience for local development and deploymentsGradle experience for builds and dependency managementGraphQL experience for API schema design and query optimizationKotlin experience in server-side developmentRAML experience for API modeling and documentationWe offerInternational projects with top brandsWork with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peersHealthcare benefitsEmployee financial programsPaid time off and sick leaveUpskilling, reskilling and certification coursesUnlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ coursesGlobal career opportunitiesVolunteer and community involvement opportunitiesEPAM Employee GroupsAward-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
