About The Role We are seeking an exceptional Senior Data Scientist specializing in lending to join our dynamic team. You will design and own Félix’s underwriting models, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Collections to improve approval rates, reduce credit losses, and enable sustainable growth. What You’ll Do Refine and optimize underwriting models for loans, including approved loan amounts. Identify and integrate leading indicators of credit risk, especially behavioral ones, and uncover additional crucial data points. Lead the integration of diverse internal and external data sources into our underwriting model. Build, maintain, and ensure the compliance of credit underwriting models throughout their lifecycle. Design and maintain comprehensive credit dashboards for originations and collections, providing actionable insights. Provide advanced analytical support to originations and collections teams to optimize key metrics. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to integrate models into production systems and ensure ethical AI practices. Communicate complex analytical findings effectively to diverse audiences. Requirements Deep expertise in credit risk modeling, underwriting processes, and lending economics. Proven ability to design, build, and deploy end‑to‑end ML solutions in production using a robust Python ecosystem. Applied MLOps expertise in model versioning, monitoring, and automated pipelines, working closely with engineering teams. Advanced SQL skills for large‑scale data extraction, transformation, and feature creation. Strong foundation in statistics, hypothesis testing, sampling, and causal inference. Extreme ownership and bias for action in a fast‑paced environment. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Bilingual (English and Spanish) with excellent communication skills. Equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered. Nice to Haves Experience with cloud‑based data platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure). Experience with collections analytics, recovery modeling, or pricing optimization. Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and lifecycle management. Background in FinTech, startups, or other regulated industries with a focus on consumer lending. Experience with feature stores, model registries, and CI/CD pipelines for ML. Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
