JOB TITLE: Deputy Utility Manager- Electrical Distribution CLASSIFICATION: Exempt DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Utilities/Administration SUPERVISOR: Utilities Manager Apply at: Position Summary: Under limited direction of the Utilities Manager, supervises and manages the overall operation, construction, maintenance, repair and engineering function of the electric transmission and distribution systems, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information. The Deputy Utility Manager-Electrical Distribution will have the full authority of the Utilities Manager in his or her absence. Assists the Utilities Manager in negotiating contracts and in the evaluation of professional proposals. The Deputy Utility Manager- Electrical Distribution serves at the pleasure of the Utilities Manager. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering. Seven years of combined experience in engineering-related field or experience related to power distribution. Experience in electric distribution design, operations, and maintenance. Two years of supervisory experience across all years of job-related experience. Must possess and maintain the Registered Professional Engineer License in New Mexico. Must possess or have ability to obtain within first sixty days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license. Must be a U.S. citizen and must be able to obtain a non-cleared U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) badge. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering. Project Management Certification. Graduate courses in contract law and finance.
