Our team, led by seasoned technology founders and renowned doctor Mark Hyman MD (Cleveland Clinic, 15× NYT best‑selling author), is seeking a creative and experienced Mobile App Lead. The product team includes engineers behind machine‑learning systems built and deployed at scale, including a former tech lead from Google Research. We’re a scrappy team of about 45 full‑time engineers, designers, and PMs, and we’re looking to add a few more exceptional people to help us scale our systems and impact. Responsibilities Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and operations teams to bring clarity and direction to mobile projects. Take ownership of the delivery of key mobile app projects, including UI/UX improvements, integration with other systems, and the addition of new features. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the mobile development team. Requirements Strong leadership skills and experience in leading mobile app development projects. A passion for improving people’s lives and empowering them to manage their health. Strong background in software engineering, with substantial experience in mobile app development. Proficient in mobile app programming languages, such as Swift, Kotlin, or React Native. Experience with mobile app frameworks and tools, and a solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle. Familiarity with cloud‑based platforms and technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud. Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a knack for understanding complex systems and simplifying them. Comfortable with remote work and able to work collaboratively in a distributed team. Willingness to challenge assumptions and a commitment to continuous improvement. Nice‑to‑haves Experience in health tech or working with health‑related data. Start‑up experience, particularly in early‑stage tech companies. Knowledge of health technologies like Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch, CGMs. Familiarity with a variety of programming languages and technologies, such as Python, React, GCP, and Postgres. Location 100% Remote – Function is headquartered in the United States but works with a distributed team nationwide. Your First 3 Months Month 1 – Rapid onboarding and immersion into our mobile app ecosystem. Collaboration with the product and engineering teams to understand existing features and upcoming projects. Participation in cross‑functional meetings related to mobile app development. Month 2 – Take full ownership of a significant mobile app project, collaborating with engineering leads on its execution. Begin to work more autonomously, providing technical leadership and direction to the mobile development team. Alignment with the business goals and understanding of how the mobile app contributes to these objectives. Month 3 – Operating autonomously, you’ll continue to drive the mobile app’s development forward, making key decisions on its direction and feature set. By the end of this month, you will have a deep understanding of our mobile app architecture and be instrumental in planning future enhancements and integrations. Establish a roadmap for ongoing development and optimization of the mobile app, in line with Function’s strategic goals.
