Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Milieu Therapist is responsible for conducting
initial risk assessments, de-escalating crisis in the milieu, conducting process groups, and as
needed, sessions with Newport Healthcare residents in need of immediate or emergent services.

Essential Duties:

Conduct initial risk assessments for new admits.
Address peer issues within the community as needed.
Communicate with resident’s treatment team to ensure continuity of care.
De-escalate struggling clients in the community, understand crisis management techniques,
and outside sources such as on-call, to support when needed.
Meet individually with clients who may be at risk or struggling as needed.
Facilitate groups with residents in the evening.
Work with the Program Director and/or Clinical Director on program development, scheduling
and coordinating evening services for the clinical program.
Be responsible for the timely completion of clinical documentation (assessments, progress,
and group notes).
Attend weekly clinical supervision.
Attend trainings as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human services, counseling, psychology or related clinical field required. Minimum two (2) years of experience with adolescents or young adults in a mental health or
substance abuse setting required. Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or family therapy preferred.

The salary range for this position is $28.58/hr to $36.14/hr based on education and experience.
