About nOps

nOps is the leading automated FinOps platform for cloud cost optimization, managing over $5B in annual cloud spend for companies from fast growing startups to global enterprises across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

About the Role

nOps is looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure to join our Customer Success team.

Unlike a traditional DevOps role focused on maintaining internal infrastructure, this role focuses on helping customers optimize their cloud environments, automate infrastructure improvements, and realize measurable savings.

You will work directly with customers to identify optimization opportunities, recommend solutions, and help implement changes safely in production.

Our philosophy is simple: We don't just provide recommendations. We help customers take action and achieve results.

Responsibilities

Kubernetes and Compute Optimization:

  • Analyzes EKS clusters for cost, performance, and resource efficiency.
  • Optimizes pod requests and limits, node utilization, and autoscaling.
  • Works with Karpenter, Cluster Autoscaler, Spot Instances, and Savings Plans.
  • Identifies underutilized resources and safely implements optimization strategies.
  • Troubleshoots Kubernetes infrastructure and performance issues.

AWS Infrastructure Optimization:

  • Identifies cost and operational inefficiencies across RDS, EC2, EBS, VPC, S3, and other AWS services.
  • Reduces RDS and Kubernetes extended support costs through upgrade planning and execution.
  • Optimizes RDS configurations, instance sizing, and storage.
  • Finds idle, orphaned, and misconfigured cloud resources.
  • Weighs performance, availability, and cost tradeoffs before making changes.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code:

  • Builds automation using Terraform, Pulumi, Python, Bash, and AWS APIs.
  • Turns recurring optimization recommendations into safe, repeatable workflows.
  • Automates infrastructure changes with proper testing, monitoring, and rollback plans.
  • Reduces manual effort for customers.

Customer Success and Savings Delivery:

  • Reviews customer infrastructure and prioritizes opportunities.
  • Helps customers execute recommendations rather than simply delivering reports.
  • Partners with the Customer Success team to drive broader platform adoption.
  • Measures and documents realized savings and infrastructure improvements.
  • Builds customer confidence through technical expertise and hands-on execution.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong production experience with Kubernetes, especially Amazon EKS.
  • Deep understanding of AWS infrastructure, networking, storage, and databases.
  • Experience with RDS upgrades, version management, and production migrations.
  • Strong Terraform and infrastructure automation experience.
  • Experience with Kubernetes cost optimization, autoscaling, and capacity management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, containers, networks, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical recommendations directly to customers.
  • Track record of implementing production infrastructure changes safely.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Karpenter and Kubernetes rightsizing tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and Spot capacity optimization.
  • Background in FinOps or cloud cost optimization platforms.
  • Knowledge of RDS, EKS, and other AWS extended support charges.
  • Experience with Azure AKS or Google GKE.
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, or customer-facing infrastructure engineering.

What Success Looks Like

  • Customers consistently implement optimization recommendations.
  • Measurable cost savings are delivered and validated.
  • Customers adopt more of the nOps optimization and automation capabilities.
  • Customer infrastructure waste, support costs, and manual operational effort go down.
  • Recommendations are implemented through a repeatable approach across multiple customers.

Why nOps

  • Senior level seat with real ownership and a direct line to customers and engineering leadership.
  • Hands-on work with measurable impact, where you help customers take action and see results.
  • Real impact on a fast growing FinOps platform powering cloud cost optimization across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
