About the Role
We are looking for a highly detail-oriented Graphic Designer focused on illustration quality control, artist evaluation, and training. Unlike a traditional Graphic Designer role focused on producing marketing assets, this position is responsible for ensuring that the illustrations created by our freelance illustrator network consistently meet our quality standards. You will evaluate illustrator candidates, supervise newly onboarded illustrators, review customer-facing work, provide technical feedback, support illustrator development, and determine when illustrators are ready to work independently. As production scales during peak seasons, this role will be one of the main owners of illustration quality across the company. Responsibilities
• Freelance Illustrator Evaluation: Review illustration tests submitted by freelance candidates and determine which applicants meet the artistic and technical standards required to join the team.
• Illustrator Classification: Evaluate newly onboarded illustrators and classify them based on their level of execution and consistency.
• Promote illustrators: Evaluate the quality and consistency of illustrations produced by Junior Illustrators and take responsibility for promoting them to Senior level once they meet the specific quality and performance standards established by the company.
• Senior Quality Audits: Conduct periodic and unannounced reviews of illustrations produced by Senior Illustrators to ensure quality remains consistent over time.
• Illustrator Training & Support: Support newly hired illustrators during their training period, answer technical questions, identify areas for improvement, and help them reach the level required to produce large volumes of illustrations independently.
• Technical Support: Serve as the main point of reference for illustration-related technical questions and help illustrators resolve doubts regarding execution, style, corrections, consistency, and production standards..
• Quality Improvement: Identify recurring mistakes across the illustrator team and help improve guidelines, training materials, examples, and quality-control processes. Qualifications & Requirements
• Strong Illustration

Skills:
Excellent understanding of digital illustration techniques and the ability to recognize high-quality and low-quality execution quickly.
• Exceptional Visual Judgment: Ability to identify subtle problems related to proportions, composition, color, perspective, details, consistency, finishing, and overall visual quality.
• High Attention to Detail: Comfortable reviewing large volumes of creative work while maintaining the same quality standards throughout.
• Consistency in Evaluation: Ability to apply the same quality criteria objectively across different illustrators and large volumes of work.
• Clear Feedback

Skills:
Ability to identify exactly what is wrong with an illustration and communicate specific, actionable corrections that another illustrator can easily understand and implement.
• Teaching & Mentoring Ability: Comfortable helping illustrators improve their skills, explaining technical concepts, and guiding them through the learning process.
• Decision-Making: Able to confidently approve or reject illustrations, evaluate illustrator performance, and make independent quality decisions based on established standards.
• Pattern Recognition: Ability to identify recurring mistakes, quality trends, and weaknesses across individual illustrators or the wider illustration team.
• Organization: Able to supervise multiple illustrators at different stages of training and production while keeping reviews and feedback organized.
• Speed Without Sacrificing Quality: Able to review illustrations efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail, particularly during high-volume seasonal periods. Background & Experience
• +2 years of professional experience in graphic design, digital illustration, visual arts, or a closely related creative field.
• Strong practical experience working with digital illustrations.
• Previous experience reviewing or providing feedback on the creative work of other designers or illustrators is highly valued.
• Experience training, mentoring, supervising, or leading creative professionals is a strong advantage. Tools & Work Style
• Strong proficiency with the graphic design and illustration software required to review, edit, and evaluate digital artwork.
• Comfortable working independently and making day-to-day quality decisions.
• Comfortable working in a production environment where illustration volumes can increase significantly during seasonal peaks.
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple illustrators, reviews, corrections, and training processes simultaneously.
