Part-time Global Lecturer for Political Institutions and Economic Policy

NYU Buenos Aires is currently recruiting for a part-time lecturer to teach Political Institutions and Economic Policy, sponsored by NYU's College of Arts and Science Wilf Family Department of Politics. Teaching begins in the Spring semester (late January-early May 2026).

Course format

The course is taught in English and meets for 3 hours per week, for 14 instructional weeks plus the final examination week, and office hours. The instructor role includes all preparations, delivery, and grading.

Course Description

This course examines the impact of various economic, social, political, and international factors on patterns of economic and political development across countries.  More specifically, it focuses on the relationship between development and policy making, emphasizing the significance of political institutions and the incentives of key actors in shaping policy.  The second part of the course takes a closer look at poverty and social policy in developing countries.  This segment of the course introduces theoretical perspectives from political science and economics, and uses them to enrich our understanding of  concrete problems and approaches to address those problems in Latin America, with a special focus on Argentina.

A strong candidate will have a Ph.D. or its equivalent in Political Science, Political Economy, International Relations, or another related field. Candidates with teaching experience, and experience with U.S. institutions of higher education are strongly encouraged to apply.
