About PESCM: located in San Rafael, is the only 24/7 veterinary hospital in Marin with specialties in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Urgent Care, Emergency, Radiology, and Critical Care. Our mission is to serve pets and people by continually pushing to improve our medicine, our service, our communication, and ourselves.

About the Job: Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, wrapping, and rotating all surgical and procedural instruments to ensure proper infection control and readiness for use. Operates and maintains sterilization equipment, including autoclave, cold sterilization systems, and gas sterilization units. Follows strict protocols for handling and storing instruments to maintain sterility and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
  • Be able to properly use and perform maintenance on autoclave, ultrasonic and all cleaning devices
  • Have or be willing to obtain a gas sterilizer certificate
  • Properly pack instruments using the correct indicators containers and pouches
  • Maintain and care for surgical instruments and equipment
  • Maintain a log of surgical instruments and pull lists for different surgical procedures
  • Surgical scrub laundry and some general cleaning in surgery areas
  • Organizing surgical rooms on a daily a basis
  • Prepare/clean operating rooms prior to surgery and after surgery
  • Familiarity of sterile technique to open instruments during a surgery
  • Possibly running bloodwork, assisting with patient care and positioning for x-rays

About You

  • Experience as an instrument technician preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
  • Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected
  • Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun

Salary: $22.00- $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:00am - 6:30pm
