The Role

Belong is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in C# who is eager to grow, learn, and contribute to both backend development and day-to-day production operations. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants meaningful ownership, exposure to real production systems, and the opportunity to work across engineering and business operations.

You will help build and maintain backend services that power critical parts of the Belong platform, while also supporting production workflows that keep our operations running smoothly—such as initiating payouts, sending deposits, troubleshooting payment failures, partnering with providers support, performing lease corrections, and ensuring data accuracy.

This is more than a heads-down coding role. You'll collaborate across engineering, operations, and product teams, gaining a deep understanding of how our business functions end-to-end. It's a chance to grow into a well-rounded engineer by contributing to both product development and real operational workflows that directly impact homeowners and residents.

What You'll Do

Backend Engineering

Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using C#/.NET.

Contribute to new features, enhancements, and bug fixes across our core systems.

Write clean, maintainable, tested code with guidance from senior engineers.

Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies.

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand requirements and deliver improvements.

Production Support & Operations

Execute operational workflows such as:

Initiating and validating homeowner payouts

Sending security deposits

Investigating payment failures and resolving root causes

Working directly with our providers

Performing lease corrections and ensuring data accuracy

Monitor system health and escalate issues when necessary.

Help improve internal tools and automation to reduce manual work across teams.

Document recurring issues and contribute to long-term fixes.

AI-Enabled Productivity

Use AI-driven tools to accelerate development, debugging, testing, and repetitive operational tasks.

Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows in partnership with engineering and operations teams.

What We're Looking For

1–3 years of software engineering experience, ideally in backend development.

Solid understanding of C#, .NET, and RESTful APIs.

Interest or experience in production operations, support tasks, or QA-like validation work.

A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a high sense of ownership.

Ability to troubleshoot issues across systems and communicate findings clearly.

Willingness to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.

Curiosity, humility, eagerness to learn, and comfort asking questions.

Bonus:

Experience with payment systems or financial operations.

Exposure to SQL, distributed systems, or cloud environments.

Familiarity with Dwolla or other payment platforms.

Experience using AI tools to improve efficiency.
