JD A medical interpreter facilitates communication between patients and healthcare providers who speak different languages. They act as a bridge between the patient and the healthcare team, interpreting spoken information in a way that is accurate and culturally appropriate. Summary Provides accurate interpretation of critical medical information in direct service to physicians and/or other health care providers who are seeing patients who cannot speak or understand English when specifically required by the provider.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Precisely and accurately interprets medical advice and information given by the provider into equivalent terminology in the patient's language.
2. Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with patients and health care providers.
3. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and interprets sensitive information following PHI and HIPAA protocols. Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities RequiredFluency in target language(s).Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.Ability to precisely and accurately interpret critical medical information from English to the patient's language.Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.Knowledge of cultural customs and practices that may affect healthcare delivery.
