**Cobol Developer**

**Position Overview**:
**Mainframe Tech Used**: Cobol, JCL, DB2. (CICS is not used much here).

**Tools used**: ServiceNow, Jira, Kanban, Mainframe, Cobol, JCL, DB2, DFSort utility, CA7, File Manager.

**Requirements**:
We have 7-8 Production releases in a year for which we are assigned PR/INC to work on.

PR is used for standard Projects which includes enhancing/modification/maintenance changes.

INC is used by the stakeholders to raise service requests which range from queries to requests for code changes.

We have to take end to end responsibility starting from Requirement gathering through discussion with stakeholders to code design, code changes,

unit testing, support for QA & CAT testing & Production Install support.

We also have to do Batch Monitoring for the Batch Runs, this responsibility is divided across the team in a weekly allocation, so for 1 week we have On call support
- Monitor the Batch across the 6 Production cycles along with CAT cycle & QA cycle.
- Resolve any issues arising in the Batch cycle & ensure that the SLA are met for the Batch cycles.
- Find out any recurring issues & work on providing the permanent fix.
- Identify the areas where the job can run more efficiently & faster, work on providing the fix.
- Provide support for the Release activity by ensuring the new changes that went into the release are not impacting the batch runs.

Apart form these we also get Adhoc tasks requests from Business/Clients/Other Application teams for data/queries/files.

**System Description**:

- TM09J takes care of the Reward Processing, we have two major system PLP (Premier Loyalty Platform) & Legacy Rewards.
- Rewards processing includes getting feeds from upstream/downstream systems like Optis & Card Holder Master and calculating rewards points on transaction level based on Programs opted & other details.
- It also does reporting & sends out feeds to the clients enrolled under Reward Processing.
- It takes up BRU requests from the Clients for certain tasks like account addition/existing account updating among others through Standard Request Processing.
