**About Us**

Cal Interpreting & Translations, Inc. (CIT) is a California-based language service provider delivering high-quality interpreting and translation services across the U.S. and internationally. We support over 200 languages in **legal, medical, business, community, and social services** settings through on-site, video remote (VRI), and over-the-phone interpreting (OPI).

We are currently seeking **skilled OPI Interpreters** to join our **remote team** as independent contractors. This role offers **flexible scheduling** and the opportunity to support diverse industries.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide **accurate, professional over-the-phone interpreting (OPI)** for clients across multiple industries.
- **Facilitate communication** between Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and clients, maintaining neutrality and confidentiality.
- Follow **professional interpreting standards**, including the Interpreter’s **Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice**.
- Answer and manage interpretation calls promptly, maintaining a **calm, professional demeanor** even in urgent or sensitive situations.
- Keep **familiarity with industry-specific terminology**, including legal, medical, business, and social services.
- Maintain **activity logs** and any required reporting.
- Participate in **CIT’s internal training and professional development** opportunities.

**Qualifications**
- **Bilingual fluency** in English and Spanish (C1 level or over).
- **Cultural competency**, including awareness of regional variations and accents.
- **Strong listening, retention, and note-taking skills.**:

- Minimum **18 years old**, eligible to work as an independent contractor.
- **High school diploma or equivalent** (education in languages, linguistics, or interpreting is a plus).
- **Professional communication skills** and strong customer service orientation.
- Experience in **legal, medical, or community interpreting** preferred but not required.
- Ability to **work independently** and honor scheduled hours reliably.

**Technical Requirements**
- Dedicated **desktop or laptop computer** with **wired high-speed internet** (min. 5 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload).
- **USB headset** and a quiet, distraction-free workspace.

Pay: $16,000.00 - $18,000.00 per hour
