**The Role**:
**Summary**:
ER Generalists in an ER in Business role partner with the business to make decisions that maximise value and manage risks. They integrate with colleagues in other functions and ER in the Country and, thus, gain a deep insight into how Shell makes money and how to deliver value to various stakeholders. ER Generalists in an ER in the Country role have an integrated country 'view' of Shell's operations and businesses, and work to protect and create business and reputation value.

WHERE YOU FIT IN
The Argentina, Chile and Uruguay Cluster is host to a myriad of complex risks and opportunities for Shell. From unconventional oil/gas exploration/production and monetization as well as large-scale offshore exploration in Argentina, to tapping gas markets in Chile and Uruguay, the requirements for regulatory and policy acumen are significant. Shell Trading is also prevalent across the cluster. In addition, there are legal and fiscal legacy issues in Uruguay. All these factors make this geography diverse and challenging for a professional in this field. This position will sit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, supporting the CR GM and the numerous businesses and functions in the cluster.

WHAT’S THE ROLE?
Deliver an integrated Regulatory, Policy and Advocacy strategy for the Argentina, Chile and Uruguay Cluster, ensuring value is protected and enhanced and providing optionality for Shell businesses by influencing policy through advocacy.
This role will be:

- Identifying significant country political events and trends at national, regional, and local levels for inclusion in CR strategic plans.
- Determining the impacts of government policies, tax, finance and regulatory developments on Shell business and advise Shell Business units and Corporate Functions on appropriate strategies and plans which will help achieve our business objectives.
- Assessing complex political and social systems and provide appropriate advice to Business units.
- Advising businesses on country/cluster's legal frameworks, policies, regulatory frameworks, and decision-making procedures.
- Seeking knowledge and understanding of key competitors’ interests and activities that impact decision making relevant to Shell.
- Supporting CR GM on risk prioritization based on 1) political importance, 2) materiality for the business 3) timing; and 4) reputation.
- Ensuring effective access for business leaders to, and influence on, key government decision makers - Ministers, senior officials and congressmen/women, and business leaders, among others.
- Supporting development/execution of a broad-based stakeholder engagement strategy, ensuring timely access, building trust and credibility, thus positioning Shell as the partner of choice vis-a -vis competitors and other players.
- Supporting design and implementation of advocacy plans (setting out desired policy outcomes, Shell position, policy messaging and recommendations, stakeholder analysis and engagement program) in cooperation with the businesses and functions. Providing support to the business via policy analysis and strategic approach, assessment, and alignment.
- Managing the integration of strategic communications protocols and channels into government advocacy programs
- Representing Shell, as needed, in industry chambers, think tanks, industry events, associations, etc.
- Promoting Shell´s vision on all relevant policy initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with all government rules and regulations as well as with Shell’s business principles and ethical standards as they relate to all lobbying activities in the cluster.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- University degree (Bachelor’s or greater).
- Deep understanding of the Argentina, Chile and Uruguay Cluster.
- Experience working in/with government is a must.
- Good understanding of ethics and compliance and ABC principles.
- Ability to strategically influence government stakeholders through advocacy in order to deliver value for Shell.
- Broad geopolitical and social awareness to see inter-connectivity between issues.
- Deep understanding of Shell’s policy & advocacy priorities in the Argentina, Chile and Uruguay Cluster.
- Sound awareness of CR priorities and Group strategy is expected.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in English and Spanish are a must.
