Subject Matter Expert

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Expert Consultation**: Provide expert advice and guidance on complex income tax issues to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders, with a particular focus on the unique tax challenges faced by startups. Advise on the tax obligations of individual partners and shareholders within startups, including personal income tax matters and equity compensation.
**Compliance Oversight**: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local income tax laws and regulations, staying updated on changes and implications for startups and their stakeholders. Develop and maintain processes to ensure ongoing compliance with tax regulations, reducing risk and ensuring quality in all tax-related deliverables.
**Research and Analysis**: Conduct thorough research on income tax legislation, rulings, and trends relevant to startups. Analyze and interpret tax laws and regulations to provide actionable insights. Standardize tax matters related to startups, including capital raising, equity compensation, and tax obligations of partners and shareholders.
**Training and Development**: Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and seminars for internal teams (including Tax, Customer Support, Sales, and Product) and clients on startup-specific income tax matters. Ensure that all internal teams are equipped with up-to-date knowledge on tax regulations and compliance requirements.
**Documentation**: Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive documentation of tax policies, procedures, and compliance efforts, particularly as they relate to startups. Develop standardized templates and guidelines for startup tax matters to streamline internal processes and client deliverables.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Work closely with finance, legal, and bookkeeping teams to ensure cohesive and comprehensive tax strategies and compliance for startups.
**Client Support**: Provide high-quality support to startup clients, addressing their income tax queries and concerns effectively. Handle the most complex tax cases for clients, ensuring a high standard of service and satisfaction.
**Risk Management**: Ensure that robust processes and controls are in place to mitigate tax-related risks for startups and their stakeholders. Continuously monitor and update risk management practices to adapt to new tax regulations and business developments.

**Requisitos**:
**Qualifications**:
**Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. CPA, CMA, EA, or similar certification is preferred.
**Experience**: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in income tax, with a strong background in both corporate and individual tax matters, particularly within the startup ecosystem.
**Knowledge**: In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax laws and regulations. Familiarity with international tax laws is a plus. Specialized knowledge of tax issues specific to startups, including equity compensation, capital raising, and the tax obligations of partners and shareholders.
**Skills**: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in Taxation, Law, or related field. Previous experience in a consulting or advisory role. Proven track record of successfully managing complex tax projects. Experience in training and developing internal teams on tax matters.
