For the CTO of SAP’s AI organization, we are searching for an AI Scientist Chief Expert on Foundation Models and Generative AI.

**What you’ll do**:
**Expectations and Tasks**

As a Chief Expert on Foundation Models and Generative AI, you will report to CTO of the AI Unit and will be responsible for the following key tasks:

- Drive the strategic development for Foundation Models and Generative AI, in particular Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Understand the business value for Foundation Models and Generative AI at SAP by working together with business experts to design and deliver use cases.
- Design and set up environment and infrastructure for fast evaluation, development, and deployment of Generative AI use cases.
- Engage and interact with leaders in R&D on Generative AI to stay current with latest innovations.
- Identify technology partners and drive cooperation strategy

**What you Bring**:
**Education and Qualifications I Skills and Competences**
- PhD or master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, or other relevant discipline
- Profound knowledge of Foundation Models, in particular LLMs, as well as AI technologies more broadly
- Experience in transforming innovation and research into enterprise-grade technology
- Experience with LLM frameworks to support training and inference
- Experience in LLM distillation and compression for low latency and resource usage in applied business environments
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and presentation skills to work effectively with business and technology teams
- Fluent spoken and written communication skills in English and German
- Confident personality who likes to take the initiative to drive a topic and with the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, and international environment
- Entrepreneurial, a business
- driven mindset.

**Work Experience**
- At least +8-10 years of professional experience in artificial intelligence, computer science
- Professional experience in leading teams of experts
- Publication and thought leadership record in the field of artificial intelligence
- Demonstrable track record in developing AI methods in an enterprise setting
