Dow has an opportunity for a **Technical Service and Development Associate Scientist** located in **Buenos Aires, (Argentina) **responsible for Packaging & Specialty Plastics business to support the development and market implementation of Dow Plastics resins.

As a member of the Latin America Packaging & Specialty Plastics Technical Service and Development organization, you will also have responsibility for specific development projects, requiring interaction with colleagues in Latin America and/or globally. With technical responsibility for a defined group of customers, you will need to work closely with sales, marketing and other Dow functions.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Consistently applies the scientific methodology to solve technical problems. Understands the connections of the scientific methods.
- Proactively identifies risks with solutions and develops action plan to mitigate. Proposes new approaches to solve problems.
- Serve as peer coach and provides constructive advice on projects within the team. Use skills and competencies to increase productivity of self and others.
- Modifies communication appropriately to both internal and external audiences.
- Communicate and appropriately document work in the form of internal reports/ presentations, technology manuals, knowledge management resources, external reports, and patents when appropriate.
- Use understanding of the customer to define projects that deliver solutions to customer and market meet through technical solutions.
- Develop understanding of market/industry dynamics and develop a technical strategy to capitalize on customer needs.
- Provides effective TS&D support to numerous accounts for the business and responds to technical questions of customers and other Dow/market-facing businesses.
- Attends appropriate industry conferences and contributes data and input for papers and presentations.
- Assume significant customer account responsibilities across multiple customers.
- Understand and follow appropriate EH&S standards, policies and procedures applicable to their job. Lead by example in the area of safety behaviors by promoting safe work habits.

**Required qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, bachelor’s in chemistry, material science or related field.
- Fluent English in verbal and written communications
- Native either Spanish.
- It is required Knowledge of polymers and/or polymer fabrication technologies, gained through a university level education in Polymer Material Science, Fabrication Technology or Engineering, or closely related fields. Specifically, deep knowledge on flexible packaging, such as Stand up pouch, frozen food, liquid packaging, meat and cheese packaging, barrier films, shrinkable barrier films, pet food packaging and related would be very valuable.
- **Deep knowledge on polymer transformation technologies, such as Blown film, Cast Film, coating, laminating, double and triple bubble technologies**
- ** Mobility and able to travel approximately 10 to 20% of the time, essentially within Latin America.**

**Your preferred qualifications include**
- Masters Degree (equivalent industry experience). Typical: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science. Others: Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and related fields.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders (sales, marketing, TS&D, R&D, regulatory, product stewards, etc) from multiple backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to utilize internal and external network and understanding of multiple technologies to build partnerships with customers and co-suppliers for business growth and solving complex problems.
- Strong knowledge of material creation process, raw material/product registration process, industry EH&S requirements.
