Chief Information Security Officer

The **Chief Information Security Officer** establishes and administers the overall strategies and procedures for the information systems and security function, overseeing the creation, development, enforcement, and maintenance of policies and procedures, selecting and implementing new IT and security technologies, providing strategic direction for the organization’s technical infrastructure and security (including hardware, software, servers, databases, storage solutions, networks, audiovisual equipment or physical facilities) in support of critical district business needs; creating information security training programs and managing potential team personnel.

**Core Responsibilities**

**Information Security Strategy and Planning**:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive information security strategy that aligns with EdgeUno’s objectives and industry best practices.
- Identify and assess potential security risks and vulnerabilities, conducting regular risk assessments to proactively mitigate threats.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate security measures into business processes and technology initiatives.

**Cybersecurity Operations**:

- Lead and direct the cybersecurity team in monitoring and responding to security incidents, including intrusion detection, incident response, and threat intelligence analysis.
- Implement and maintain security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, and access controls, to protect EdgeUno’s infrastructure and data assets.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends and emerging threats, ensuring that EdgeUno stays at the forefront of security practices.

**Information Systems Management**:

- Oversee the management and maintenance of EdgeUno’s information systems, including hardware, software, cloud infrastructure, and networking components.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical systems and services.
- Monitor system performance and implement measures to address any issues, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

**Policy and Compliance**:

- Establish and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures across EdgeUno.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws, industry regulations, and international standards, such as ISO 27001.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to measure and enhance EdgeUno’s security posture.

**Security Awareness and Training**:

- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to raise security awareness among EdgeUno’s employees and contractors.
- Foster a security-conscious culture throughout the organization, encouraging a proactive approach to information security.

**Vendor Management**:

- Evaluate and manage relationships with external security vendors and service providers.
- Collaborate with vendors to assess their security practices and ensure compliance with contractual security requirements.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Proven experience in information security management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of IT systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and international compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a team.
- Problem-solving mindset, able to analyze complex security issues and develop pragmatic solutions.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.
