This position carries out commissioning /installation/repair/maintenance and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment.

As a Field Service Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronising equipment.
- Having knowledge of networking systems. Such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fibre.
- Conducting upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronisers, Protection relays and other control elements.
- Carring out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field. Examples may include Polarisation Index, Insulation resistance, and Ductor tests.
- Practicing some degree of project management at site.
- Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
- Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
- Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
- Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Have a technical qualification in an electrical or electronic discipline (Bachelor's degree is ideal).
- Alternatively complete a recognized craft apprenticeship in electrical engineering and be able to demonstrate significant experience gained working in the field.
- Have experience of working on competitors equipment would be advantageous.
- Demonstrate high level knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems.
- Be self reliant, resourceful and a problem solver with well developed commercial awareness. Strength of character and high levels of energy.
- Be an effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Be able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working.
- Be experienced in representing the Company at customers’ sites and operating remotely on own initiative whilst observing the requirements set down in the Company’s Code of Conduct for Service/Commissioning Engineers.
- Be able to work with Company’s rules and guidance notes on health and safety, including operation of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems and work in a heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrate clear understanding of cultural differences and has the diplomacy to cope with all aspects of the role.
- Have experience in commissioning electrical systems, preferably rotating machines.
- Possesses a high degree of technical competence.
- Full Driving License required.
