Department
- Moody’s Local (ML) is a leading provider of domestic credit ratings and research in Latin America currently present in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. Domestic markets have unique features, Moody’s Local combines tailored credit rating methodologies and a seasoned team of local analysts providing analysis specific to those local markets

Role/Responsibilities

We have an enticing opportunity for a detailed, well organized AVP - Senior Financial Engineer to join our growing team. As an AVP at Moody’s Local, you will play a key role enhancing and developing new scorecards and tools used by Moody’s Local Rating Analysts.
With your understanding of quantitative methods, economics, and credit risk, you will produce thought-leading quantitative tools used directly in Moody’s Local Core Strategic Objectives. Join our team and start excelling your career today
- **Specific Responsibilities Include**:

- Lead projects on improving existing quantitative credit rating models and scorecards, in addition to developing new models and scorecards used by Moody’s Local Credit Rating Analysts to assign ratings.
- Work along different analytical teams in ML to present how the models, scorecards, tools, and research were crafted and work.
- Conduct ad-hoc economic and financial research projects to develop credit rating models and scorecards.

**Qualifications**:
Education Requirements
- Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics or Finance or related financial field
- PhD degree will be considered a plus
- CFA will be considered a plus

Languages
- Excellent communications skills in Spanish & English
- Portuguese is a plus

Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience working on economic research and credit models.
- Proven experience handling large datasets, time series and panel data econometrics
- Solid understanding of economic models
- Use of Matlab and VBA and one or more of the following programming/econometric languages: Stata, R, SQL, Python or other
