Requirements: Electrification hardware integration experience (generators, inverters, converters, etc). Understanding of high voltage systems and high voltage system safety.

Preferred but not required: Ability to create one-line architecture diagrams for a project.

The Electrical Controls Engineer designs functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle electrical systems. Performs engineering analysis and electrical design or re-design, and development of electrical systems and subsystems into existing and new vehicles.

YOUR IMPACT:

1. Support Senior Engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

2. Under close supervision, works on projects of limited complexity in a support role.

3. Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

4. Under close supervision, design electrical parts and components to correct parameters and specifications while incorporating quality, cost reliability, and ease of manufacturing.

5. Support Senior Engineers with basic and accurate calculations, analysis, and investigation according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.

6. Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds, including resolution of problems in manufacturing.

7. Process engineering information through change notices, change proposals, and the creation of thorough print documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with Internship experience or six (6) months or more related work experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

2. Familiarity with programming languages and controls software.

3. Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN) / SAE J1939 and/or Vehicle Networking.

4. Automotive / Heavy Equipment Repair or Design Experience.

5. Wire Harness design experience.

Supervisory / Managerial: General instructing, scheduling, and reviewing the work of others performing the same or directly related work. Acts as lead worker.

Position Details:

The role is mainly for an electrical engineer, but mechanical engineers with relevant skills will also be considered.

Role Suitability:

Interest shown more by younger engineers recently out of school.

Project Details:

Engineers will work on a variety of defense vehicles requiring electrification.

Team Size:

The electrification team currently consists of three members.

Training & Expectations:

Preference for candidates who can start with minimal training and have good knowledge of electrification. On-the-job training and support from the corporate electrification group is available.

Selling Points:

Working on the forefront of electrification of military vehicles. Involvement in integrating new weapon systems.

Components to Work On:

Generators, motors, high-power DC to DC converters, A/C converters/inverters, export power systems.
