Senior Global Trade - EY Global Delivery ServicesJob Purpose: Ernst & Young ("EY") helps clients operate more effectively in moving goods around the world.
EY established a Global Trade team to help clients manage export and import classifications, assist with Free Trade Agreements ("FTA") solicitation and qualification analysis, identify other government agencies ("OGA") requirements, and review client transactions.
The Global Trade team consists of a dedicated team of trained individuals responsible for analysing the technical characteristics of products and assigning proper export and import classifications, conducting analysis if products qualify for FTAs, identifying OGA requirements and screening client's transactions against different lists of sanctioned parties.
Your Client ResponsibilitiesGlobal Trade team members are responsible for reviewing the technical properties of a good, assigning the proper import classification based upon the Harmonized Tariff Schedule ("HTS"), and assigning export classification numbers ("ECN") for goods, using appropriate software tools and via collaboration with local EY Global Trade resources.
Global Trade team members are also responsible for conducting analysis whether products qualify for FTAs and also for identifying OGA requirements.
The role of the Global Trade Senior will include the following:
Drive classification/FTA/transactional processes and review analyst's deliverablesProvide technical assistance to team members performing classifications or FTA analysisTrack deadlines and due dates for all requested classifications and work closely with Manager and team members to prioritize and meet time framesDemonstrate an understanding of the client's industry, needs and deadlines - work with team to meet deadlines with quality deliverablesProvide in-depth analysis of controversial casesYour People ResponsibilitiesThe Global Trade Senior will also be responsible for the following:
Build strong relationships with all team members - mentor Staff and work closely with the ManagerDevelop relationships with clients and respond to client questions directly as appropriateProvide regular informal feedback to team members, including constructive feedback as well as recognizing outstanding workDevelop, mentor and supervise Analysts and Advanced AnalystsOur team is dedicated to providing excellent client service and accurate classifications with fast turn-around time.
Global Trade Seniors are responsible for assigning classifications to staff members and reviewing all classifications for accuracy.
Requirements (including experience, skills and additional qualifications)Technical Skills RequirementsGlobal Trade Senior should have:
Experience determining tariff classifications in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff SystemExport Control classification experienceFTA knowledgeAdditionally, Global Trade Senior should have one or more of the following industry experience or educational background:
An undergraduate degree in international trade or licensed customs brokerStrong background and relevant experience in any of the following fields: machinery and equipment or electronics; biotechnology, medical technology and/or pharmaceutical industries (in capacities where understanding the technical aspects of the products is essential, commodity expertise exists)Additional Skills RequirementsProficiency with MS Windows, word processing, database and spreadsheet softwareExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written/verbal communication skillsAbility to analyze regulations and procedures and relate them to operationsExcellent teamwork and interpersonal skillsExperience managing a teamFluency in English is requiredFluency in Spanish is desirable
