Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), headquartered in Bengaluru, was founded in 1996 as a captive unit to support Daimler's research, IT, and product development activities.

Job Responsibilities: Leading a team of high-skilled professionals to deliver in line with industry best practices in the area of Mechanical Engineering/Design focusing on CAD Methods & Processes.Oversee the development, modernization, and enhancement of engineering tools and methods.Drive end-to-end solutions for complex requirements in the Automotive Product Lifecycle (Design, Mechanical Engineering).Ensure alignment with best practices in Automotive Design and Manufacturing processes.Act as a strategic leader fostering a product-oriented mindset within the team.Lead efforts to improve methods and processes in the Mechanical Engineering domain.Contribute to the strategy and development of the department or Center of Competence (CoC).Drive the adoption of modern engineering tools and practices in alignment with organizational goals.Focal point for providing support for local R&D Engineering applications at MBRDI.Continuously improve quality and process objectives, fostering a culture of operational excellence.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team with a focus on teamwork, continuous learning, and professional growth.Negotiate, consult, and influence stakeholders across various domains and projects.Manage external supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.Take accountability for budget planning, allocation, and controlling within the area of responsibility & identify cost-saving opportunities.Cultivate a culture of innovation within the team, driving the adoption of new technologies and processes.Skills Required: Strong background in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) processes, especially in the automotive industry.Hands-on experience with automotive design tools such as Catia, NX, etc.Delivery background with a proven track record of building, developing & enhancing methods in Engineering landscape.Expertise in managing stakeholders with local & global teams.Ability to manage complex requirements and provide end-to-end solutions.Understanding of multi-tier application development using SAFe methodology (Scaled Agile Framework) is a plus.Knowledge of Cloud Computing & DevOps practices is a plus.Ability to handle financial topics and identify cost optimization and efficiency opportunities.Skilled in fostering an environment of Innovation & self-driving culture in the organization.Managing relationships with suppliers and ensuring effective communication.Knowledge or experience working with German business partners or proficiency in German language is preferable.Summary: To summarize, this role requires a combination of technical expertise in automotive product design and lifecycle management, strong leadership and people management skills, a deep understanding of project and financial management, and the ability to drive innovation and operational excellence within a team. The candidate should be comfortable working in an agile, cross-functional environment and have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications: Educational Background: B.Tech or M.Tech (preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field).
Experience: 12-17 years of experience, with a focus on Design Methods & Processes development in the automotive or manufacturing domain.
