We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team at Merck KGaA. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the financial close process, reviewing monthly balance sheet variances, and presenting to senior management. You will also be responsible for reviewing reconciliations, addressing intercompany disputes, and ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the financial close process according to US GAAP
  • Review monthly balance sheet variances vs benchmark, provide variance commentaries, and present to Finance Director and Controller on a monthly basis
  • Review reconciliations prepared by Shared Service Center team (BPO) and drive improvements as well as address different solutions
  • Address and follow up with treasury team the settlement of intercompany disputes
  • Review month-end close and ensure compliance with local accounting standards and policy
