Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller Hotel Industry Expert to join our team at Howard Financial. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership and expertise to our hotel clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of hotel accounting, including financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for hotel clients.
  • Conduct variance analysis and work with hotel management to explain financial results.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and hotel industry best practices.
  • Provide financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with hotel management teams to develop and implement financial processes and controls.
  • Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Manage cash flow and optimize financial processes to maximize profitability for hotel clients.
  • Mentor and train junior staff as needed, ensuring the development of strong financial practices within the team.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Controller, preferably with a focus on the hospitality industry, particularly hotels.
  • In-depth knowledge of hotel accounting software (e.g., Maestro, OPERA, etc.) and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent qualification preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or similar role within the hotel industry.
