Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Leader to join our team at Assurant, Inc. as a Lead Accountant. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to management and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and assist in the completion of complex financial deliverables, including financial statements and reports.
  • Accounting Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in accounting theory and practices, providing guidance and support to less experienced employees.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform review work of financial exhibits, schedules, and transactions, identifying issues, errors, and exceptions.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain metrics and trending reports to identify reasons for trends and provide insights to management.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with colleagues to identify, propose, and implement approved issue resolution alternatives, and lead implementation efforts.
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and support the establishment of metrics and performance reporting, monitor and improve key performance indicators, and assist in ensuring team meets deadlines and deliverables.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Support the improvement of and compliance with internal controls, including SOX and MAR, and assist in ensuring team meets regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of general accounting experience, with a strong understanding of financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational skills, strong collaboration and partnering skills, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, and advanced Power BI skills for research, reporting, and creation of dynamic dashboards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CMA: Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification.
  • System Integrations: Experience with system integrations, requirements gathering, and data mining.
  • Alteryx: Knowledge of Alteryx and auditing concepts.
