About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join our team at Planate Management Group. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing assigned design projects consistent with the planning and design goals and standards of the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage assigned design projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with and assist the Project Development Team (PDT) to establish a well-defined project scope, goals, and objectives.
  • Design Oversight: Ensure completion of design projects on time and within budget, and the ability to modify or alter standard procedures to meet crucial deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the day-to-day performance of the Design and Operations (DOR) team and related consultants to ensure quality design within the contract cost and schedule.
  • Project Monitoring: Develop and implement systems to monitor project design against budget authorization and project schedules.
  • Decision Making: Lead a timely decision-making process to ensure all outstanding design issues are resolved.
  • Consulting: Act as a solution consultant to engineers, architects, and other outside consultants, and seek to improve cost-effectiveness related to the facility design process.
  • Contract Review: Review contracts, scopes of work, specifications, plans, and pertinent jurisdictional codes to ensure that project design milestones and deliverable dates are being met while providing contract-compliant, cost-effective facilities.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform other tasks required by the PDT to deliver a project design and Project Management Plan (PMP).
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience managing assigned design projects consistent with the planning and design goals and standards.
  • Healthcare Experience: Minimum three years of experience in handling healthcare facility or hospital projects.
  • Research and Analysis: Able to conduct comprehensive research and analysis of technical and cost data.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Able to read and interpret acquisition policy, regulations, and directives.
  • Leadership: Able to provide clear guidance to all lower-level acquisition personnel.
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Residency: Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment.
