Bioinformatics Expert

About the Role

At ZS, we seek a highly skilled Bioinformatics Expert to join our team. As a key member of our bioinformatics group, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engage with biomedical scientists to understand the expected bioinformatics outcomes and collaborate to frame scientific questions within a problem space.
2. Translate insights into design of bioinformatics studies and analysis.
3. Research alternative bioinformatics methodologies and techniques to achieve stated outcomes.
4. Identify gaps in available biomedical data and propose alternative datasets for analysis.
5. Plan and execute data management, data cleaning, and data integration activities.
6. Create and maintain 'omics' data processing pipelines and advise on library governance.
7. Evaluate and recommend bioinformatics tools and platforms for client projects.
8. Perform other scripting and bioinformatics tasks as required.
9. Communicate bioinformatics problem statements, methodologies, and results through peer-reviewed papers, internal talks, and client readouts.

Requirements

1. Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.
2. Experience with programming, statistical analysis, and Linux/Unix environments.
3. Strong statistical biology and machine learning skills.
4. Experience in Nextflow and familiarity with biomedical data formats.
