About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer who would be working across the Proofpoint product teams to build on top of a world-class platform and shared services suite of solutions.
This position involves architecture, design, implementation, and operation of large-scale cloud-based services that form the backbone of Proofpoint's product suite.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Act independently to drive the requirements for and own large components within the platform and shared services systems throughout their lifecycle.
- Participate in requirement discussions, gathering and analysis, architecture/design, implementation, testing, and deployment rollouts and production support.
- Exhibit strong technical leadership and communication skills, define and successfully execute engineering roadmap initiatives within an agile application development environment.
What You Bring to the Team
- 10+ years of strong server-side development experience. Experience of front-end development a bonus.
- Proven hands-on expertise in developing software in an Agile manner.
- Experience with scalability/high availability and distributed data services.
- Experience building, deploying, and monitoring large-scale cloud services. AWS preferred.
- Experience in modern authentication mechanisms, Authz/Authn.
- Authoritative level understanding and hands-on experience with REST/Web services using JSON.
- Strong Object-Oriented Analysis and design concepts.
- Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL implementations.
- Exposure to modern DevOps methodologies with CI/CD pipelines.
- Ownership of high-value product features and technical initiatives.
- Ability to act independently as a lead on complex projects and collaborate with the team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Play well with others Be a great teammate and help us maintain our positive culture.
- Share knowledge with the team both formally and informally.
- Ready to adapt and contribute across the wider team as needed.
- Provide mentoring and thought leadership to other team members.
- Expertise in Linux.
- Expertise in, or a strong desire to learn, a wide range of technologies, including: Java, JavaScript, REST/JSON APIs, Linux, AWS, Puppet, Kubernetes, Docker, terraform, Jenkins, Selenium, Git.
