About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy Engineer to join our Global Data Privacy team at Media. This role will play a critical part in implementing and maintaining our data privacy and protection program and practices. The candidate should also have the capability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy-by-design concepts into product development and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement data privacy solutions compliant with EU GDPR, CCPA, and other international privacy laws.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs and PIAs) and develop mitigation strategies to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams specifically with InfoSec & IT teams, to integrate privacy-by-design concepts into product development and business processes.
  • Provide guidance and expertise in data anonymization, encryption, and pseudonymization techniques.
  • Monitor and assess compliance with data protection regulations, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure alignment with data privacy regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in data protection laws and assess the impact on the organisation's policies and processes.
  • Lead DSAR and Data Breach processes where data management and advice if needed.
  • Conduct record of processing activities

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Information Security (InfoSec) and IT teams to align data privacy practices with overall security measures and technological infrastructure.
  • Work in conjunction with Data teams to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into data governance and management processes.
  • Take the lead in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs) developments to assess and document privacy risks and compliance requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive Privacy Risk Management frameworks and processes to identify, assess, and mitigate privacy-related risks.
  • Lead the handling of Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR) and guide the process of managing data breaches in adherence to regulatory requirements, where necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Background in security/privacy is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cloud security and data protection measures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong understanding of data encryption, anonymization, and pseudonymization techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing data privacy solutions, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with InfoSec, IT, and DDM teams to ensure alignment of privacy and security efforts.
  • Experience in conducting DPIAs, PIAs, ROPA developments, and establishing Privacy Risk Management processes.
  • Ability to lead and manage DSAR and Data Breach processes in accordance with regulatory obligations.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Fluent English. This will be tested during the selection process.
