About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our core detection team at Proofpoint. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting software systems that power our industry-leading products focused on email security.

Our team is responsible for protecting the corporate email platforms of some of the largest brands in the world. We are looking for someone with a strong background in DevOps, cloud security, and software development to help us deliver state-of-the-art products.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Implement Software Systems

Lead efforts to design, implement, and support software systems using industry best-practices.

Collaborate with Engineers and Business Stakeholders

Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problems.

Build Automation Tooling

Build automation tooling to help monitor production systems.

Address Customer Reported Bugs

Address customer-reported bugs and provide production support.

Drive Usage of Best Practices

Drive usage of best application patterns, technologies, and practices.

Design Highly Scalable and Resilient Applications

Design highly scalable and resilient applications.

Requirements

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with the following skills and experience:

  1. Proven Expertise in Agile Software Development

Proven hands-on expertise in developing software in an Agile manner.

Experience with Modern DevOps Methodologies

Exposure to modern DevOps methodologies with continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

Experience with DevOps Tooling

Experience using DevOps tooling to build infrastructure as a code.

Experience with Cloud Platforms

Experience in either AWS or GCP running production workloads.

Experience with Scalability and High Availability

Experience building reusable infrastructure as a code such as Terraform Modules.

Experience with Distributed Data Services

Experience with scalability/high availability and distributed data services.

Experience with Cloud Services

Experience building, deploying, and monitoring large-scale cloud services. AWS or GCP preferred.

Experience with Authentication Mechanisms

Experience in authentication mechanisms for authentication and authorization.

Experience with Observability Frameworks

Experience leveraging observability frameworks.

Understanding of REST/Web Services

Understanding and hands-on experience with REST/Web services using JSON.

Ownership of High-Value Product Features

Ownership of high-value product features and technical initiatives.

Sharing Knowledge with the Team

Share knowledge with the team both formally and informally.

Adaptability and Flexibility

Ready to adapt and contribute across the wider team as needed.

Expertise in a Wide Range of Technologies

Expertise in, or a strong desire to learn, a wide range of technologies, including; REST/JSON APIs, Linux, AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, CloudBees, Git, Python, Go, MySQL, Graphana, Prometheus, Behave, Terraform.

Minimum 3 Years of DevOps Experience

3+ years of strong DevOps experience.
