Are you a seasoned professional seeking a challenging role in Internal Controls? JD Sports is looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead our Internal Controls team.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong background in audit and internal controls to join our team as a Senior Manager. As part of this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our assurance strategy, managing testing, and reviewing work.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assurance Strategy: Develop and annually refresh the Group's assurance strategy over financial controls, expanding it to include material controls in time.
  • Testing and Review: Plan, manage, and execute testing in line with the assurance strategy, managing day-to-day and reviewing the work of two resources.
  • Methodology Development: Develop the Group's methodology for testing internal controls.
  • Workpaper Preparation: Prepare workpapers in line with department methodology.
  • Deficiency Tracking: Track and report deficiencies to Process and Control owners.
  • Issue Identification and Communication: Identify thematic issues and support communication and reporting of issues to senior and executive management.
  • Remediation Recommendations: Make recommendations to support the remediation of deficient controls.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze control deficiencies to identify impact on financial statements and disclosure in the annual report.

About You:

  • Accounting Qualification: Hold an accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
  • Audit Experience: Possess at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in audit, preferably with a focus on controls-testing.
  • Internal Controls Knowledge: Have a solid understanding of internal controls over financial reporting and controls testing.
  • Communication Skills: Be a strong communicator, able to develop trusting and credible relationships at all levels of the business and across various teams.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrate strong Excel skills and an understanding of IT systems and operations.
