Who we are looking for:
BDC is in search of a meticulous and skilled accountant to manage and coordinate accounting functions within our organization. The accountant's duties encompass the preparation of financial reports, execution of account reconciliations, maintenance of the general ledger, assistance with audit preparations, and execution of various accounting tasks as assigned. To excel in this role, candidates should possess a robust understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and demonstrate strong financial analytical skills. An exceptional accountant should also exhibit advanced Excel capabilities, attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while thriving under pressure. Our firm is operationally driven, and we apply our unique operational insights to how we manage our firm and investments. What you will be working on:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of the general ledger and associated financial statements in accordance with fund requirements, policies, and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Manage the personal and corporate expenses of the Founders/CEO.
  • Execute month-end journal entries from accounting transactions throughout the month, including accounts receivable and bank reconciliations, operating accruals, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, utilities, cash flow, bank statement reconciliations, and processing of checks and wires, as well as fixed asset tracking.
  • Review all inter-company transactions, generating necessary actions and invoices as required.
  • Update all essential schedules for maintaining the balance sheet and complete bank and accounts receivable reconciliations.
  • Maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Establish systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information.
  • Perform additional accounting duties and provide support to junior staff as needed or assigned.

About You:
We seek an individual with operational experience in a technology-driven company, particularly someone familiar with the expectations of venture capital and/or private equity. Experience in technology and SaaS business models is essential.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with a focus on Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Practical experience with full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Experience with multi-company and intercompany transactions.
  • Familiarity with QBO, Teams, SharePoint, Office365; experience with online BillPay is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical skills to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with senior executives and team members, as well as mentor and lead other team members.
