Job Summary:

As a DFM Project Engineer at Xometry, you will be responsible for working with customers across various industries to evaluate manufacturability of their designs and recommend solutions utilizing our extensive portfolio of technologies. This role requires strong expertise in manufacturing engineering, technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills to interface with customers, machine shops, and internal staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for customer orders
  • Troubleshoot order execution to ensure customer success
  • Interface with machine shops, sheet metal fabrication shops, and internal staff members
  • Special projects related to expanding manufacturing partner network capabilities

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years in engineering and manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1-2 years of manufacturing engineering experience with a focus on Injection Molding
  • Knowledge of optimum equipment selections, process cycle times, material limitations, and costs
  • Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers
  • Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues based on CAD models and drawings

Additional Experience:
  • Knowledge of all CNC machining and/or sheet metal fabrication practices for high and low volume runs
  • Familiarity with different types of post-processing/plating finishes for machined parts
  • Familiarity with specialty processes (i.e. wire and sinker EDM, lapping, grinding, honing, and gun drilling)
  • Material selection knowledge (i.e. use of press brake technology/laser/plasma/water jet cutting)
  • Welding of various materials
