Job Description

The successful Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for implementing effective quality control and quality assurance systems to ensure high-performance standards and compliance with company policies, local regulatory agencies, and international best practices.

This role requires a thorough understanding of physical-chemical, microbiological, and sensory analysis, as well as excellent analytical skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive analyses of raw materials, intermediate products, finished goods, environment, and packaging.
  • Evaluating test results accurately and interpreting data effectively.
  • Making informed decisions regarding material approval or rejection.
  • Supporting process control through measurements and analytical activities.
  • Defining necessary actions to enhance operational processes and improve plant key indicators.
  • Participating in laboratory workstreams and contributing to process optimization.
  • Executing analytical tasks with a focus on waste reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Observing behaviors aligned with Operational Excellence (OE) culture and adhering to established standards and guidelines.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and management system compliances.
  • Actively participating in and complying with the Laboratory Management System program (ISO 17025).
  • Maintaining calibration and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and registering results in information systems in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring analytical results through Statistical Process Control (SPC) and applying statistical problem-solving tools effectively.
  • Implementing new methods of analysis validated and approved by Corporate.
  • Conducting shelf-life extension processes according to company requirements.
  • Performing training sessions based on the Skill Matrix and writing, reviewing, and performing work instructions for the Integrated Management System of the Laboratory.
  • Supporting compliance with the Quality Assurance program of the Integrated Management System.
  • Participating in sensory evaluation panels and maintaining the Sensory Panel of the Plant according to company requirements.
  • Attending department meetings, internal work teams, and necessary meetings to meet plant and global metrics.
  • Performing internal audits of the Management System and prioritizing product safety through personal hygiene, avoiding cross-contamination risks, and complying with FSSC 22000 risk analysis.
  • Communicating identified situations impacting safety and assuming the OE Change Agent role during workstream and tool implementation.

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 per annum

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a quality control or quality assurance role, preferably within the beverage or food industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of physical-chemical, microbiological, and sensory analysis.
