Accounts Payable Clerk

**Key responsibility**:
Finance Operations ensure prompt and accurate payments to students, colleagues and suppliers, timely invoicing and debt collection in addition to other administrative duties within the Finance function. As the sector and business changes it must ensure suitable financial controls are maintained.

**Principal Duties**
- Ensure accurate, on-time delivery of payments or timely collection of debts.
- Ensure all purchase/spend or sales invoices activity accurately recorded in finance system.
- Resolve disputed invoices/payment requests with suppliers or invoices/receipts with customers and colleagues.
- Ensure delegated authority list and cash handlers record is up to date in accordance with required controls.
- Ensure timely allocation and processing of all BACS payments, banking, EPOS and merchant services receipts.
- Classify, allocate and prioritise incoming mail.
- Prepare and enter period end journals.
- Give supports to other projects or tasks when required.
- Review and improve existing processes on ongoing basis.
- Document, review and maintain accurate procedures for all tasks.
- Ensure all electronic and physical files stored accurately in team files.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and procedures.

1. Good education standard - min A level or equivalent
2. Actively studying/passed AAT professional qualifications

Experience

1. Experience of working in a financial environment
2. Experience of working in either Accounts payable or Accounts receivable
3. Experience of working with financial systems
4. Capable at data manipulation and reporting

Knowledge, skills, abilities

1. Good communication skills with high customer service ethos
2. High standard IT/MI aptitude inc Excel
3. Ability to work flexibly, accurately and to tight deadlines
4. Personal resilience and ability to work on own initiative

1. Driving licence and own car
