Level Designers understand what makes good gameplay, work around constraints, and get into the detail - the actions, events, objects and environment.
They need to think about the logic and flow of events, and the challenges the player will encounter. They also need a keen eye for visual and environmental pacing.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop interesting levels including environment, design and gameplay mechanics.
- Ensure balance between game aesthetics and technical limitations.
- Work closely with project leads to identify and resolve issues. Report bugs and build issues to QA team, debug levels.
- Review design and development work on a regular basis to ensure execution is in line with overall vision and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the Art, Design, Animation and Programming teams to develop unique and interesting game environments.
**Requirements**:
- Sound understanding of overall game design, storytelling, game mechanics, level flow, and pacing.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Unity3d Engine, and other map designing and editing packages.
- Excellent visualization skills combined with good spatial and layout design skills.
- Good sense of aesthetics, design, colors and an eye for composition.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Some knowledge of game scripting will be an added bonus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in Video Games, Arts or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Game Design and development (preferably first and third person shooters).
