The **GAAP Accountant **is responsible for ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for a fast-growing E-Commerce business with the end result of producing accurate financial reporting. This role involves guiding and assisting a team of accountants to record, analyse, and report financial transactions, as well as prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- ** Guide and Assist**:Work with the current in-house finance team to produce and maintain GAAP compliant financial data and implement systems and templates to facilitate the following monthly and annual GAAP tasks:

- ** Financial Reporting**: Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- ** General Ledger Maintenance**: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, posting journal entries, and ensuring accuracy in financial records
- ** Revenue Recognition**: Implement and maintain proper revenue recognition methods in accordance with GAAP guidelines using e-commerce software.
- ** Expense Management**: Monitor and classify expenses, ensuring proper allocation and adherence to GAAP principles.
- ** Reserves**: Prepare Reserve calculations for both returns and loyalty programme.
- ** Financial Analysis**: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- ** Communication**: Liaise effectively with all functions in the company to help collate financial data.
- ** Process Improvement**:Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of GAAP financial reporting.
- ** Compliance**: Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and ensure the company's accounting practices remain in compliance with GAAP.
- ** Tax Reporting**: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns including but not limited to 1099, Sales tax and US Corp. Income tax return.
- ** Audit Support**: Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- ** Documentation**: Maintain financial records and documentation accurately and securely.

**Qualifications and skills**:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA certification is a plus).
- Expert knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Accounting experience in an e-commerce DTC environment
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in financial statement preparation and audit support.

- Training skills
- Experience with the following software: Xero, Blue Onion, Shopify, Dext
- Sales Tax reporting and returns filing knowledge.
