**ZS’ R&D Excellence Practice** brings together experts in Strategy, Research, Clinical Execution, Data Sciences and Technology to empower client organizations achieve their passion for patient care, science and business success. Through our “Biomedical Innovation”, “Lifecycle Evidence Strategy”, “Clinical Trial Optimization”, “Medical Affairs” and “Real World Evidence” services, we deliver impact where it matters, from early drug development to commercialization. This role will be aligned with ZS R&D Excellence Practice Area across multiple clients.

**DECISION ANALYTICS ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT - BIOINFORMATICS**

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform data management activities for scientific research data domains such as biomarker data, genomics and proteomics data, assay data (flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, cytokines, etc), molecular data for synthesized molecules as well as proteins;
- Create and maintain data catalogs, data dictionaries and metadata catalogs for scientific research data domains;
- Create and curate taxonomies and ontologies for scientific data such as “cell lines”, “immune cell types”, “molecular entities”, “assays”, etc. Research and identify taxonomies and ontologies in the public domain as well as commercially available ones, ingest these ontologies into an enterprise data lake environment and then customize them for specific client purposes;
- Establish and maintain “omics” libraries and advise clients and ZS teams on library governance;
- Evaluate and assess strengths and weaknesses of “omics” and translational data sources via interrogation, and through potential data partners for advancing the data strategy for a given experiment, or for general use by a research or therapeutic area team;
- Evaluate and recommend bioinformatics tools and platforms for client projects;
- Collaborate with clients and ZS teams to understand and frame scientific questions and required insights and translate into experimental design for bioinformatics studies and analyses;
- Design and code analytical pipelines for various “omics” studies and experiments;
- Publish research papers and present at scientific conferences based on work performed;
- Maintain a strong insight into the capabilities of potential external partners and competitors in bioinformatics, by assessing their informatics and data capabilities;
- Synthesize and communicate results to clients and ZS teams through oral and written presentations;
- Provide client and ZS teams project status updates;
- Create project deliverables and implement solutions;
- Guide and mentor Associates on teams.

**Qualifications**:

- PhD or Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational genomics, genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, systems biology, immunology, mathematics, physics or related discipline, and strong academic performance with analytic and quantitative coursework is required;
- In lieu of a PhD, 3-5 years of relevant post-collegiate work experience in bioinformatics, computational genomics or a related field;
- Expertise in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics databases and translational data domains;
- Expertise in research and translational data standards, medical terminologies and controlled vocabularies (e.g. ICD, NDC, SNOMED, MedDRA, LOINC, CPT) used in healthcare data and ontologies;
- Experience in advanced visualization and visual analytics of routinely performed bioinformatics analyses;
- Proficiency in Python, R and other coding languages used in bioinformatics;
- Understanding of tools and platforms needed to analyze “omics” and translational data;
- Experience working with Cloud computing platforms like AWS
- Experience working with code versioning tools like Github
- High motivation, good work ethic, maturity and personal initiative;
