**DSP Firmware Engineer**

**Overview**:
- This hands-on experience will not only enhance the intern’s understanding of developing optimized DSP firmware for RADAR and LiDAR systems but also provide invaluable insights into the complexities of highly specialized DSP microprocessors, system-on-chip (SoC) architectures and related topics that are part of real-world engineering projects in the Autotech industry.**Responsibilities**:
- Onboarding training on DSP microprocessors and optimized DSP code development
- Development of optimized DSP code based on system requirements
- Understand and improve present development infrastructure, including CI/CD
- Writing hardware abstraction layer drivers for communication peripherals common in automotive systems, especially Ethernet, SPI, CAN and LIN.
- Writing firmware for handling data and control traffic over UDP, TCP and PTP protocols commonly used in automotive Ethernet.
- Prototyping firmware systems in pre-silicon stages using FPGA or simulation platforms to have code ready for silicon bringup on day 1.
- Perform integration of DSP firmware modules in SoC platforms
- Implement IPC mechanisms between different processors
- Familiarize with different DSP processors to efficiently implement algorithms based in architecture-specific intrinsics and/or compiler auto vectorization
- Writing software documentation, and presenting it to peers and management cogently.
**Requirements**:
- Currently studying last year of Electronic Engineering or related degrees (mandatory)
- Good understanding of C language, particularly in the development of low-level abstraction layers (e.g. device drivers) (mandatory)
- Knowledge of communication protocols: UART, I2C, SPI, etc. (highly valuable)
- Familiarity with using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers (highly valuable)
- DSP modelling, particularly using Matlab or Python (highly valuable)
- Knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD) methodology
- Prior experience with C-based device driver and RTOS on ARM Cortex M and R series MCUs.
- Understanding of version control, release management, continuous integration and unit testing.
- Experience with industry-standard debug/trace using Segger, Lauterbach or equivalent.
- Experience with FPGA platforms and/or hardware description languages
