Avature is a sophisticated SaaS platform that relies on a robust infrastructure, combining AWS and our own datacenters to stay performant, reliant, and secure. As Platform Security Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining our platform’s security as it continues to grow, coming up with creative solutions to the unique challenges we face building and configuring security services and tools. This includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of the security stack to protect the platform and its data. You will work closely with software and cloud engineers to ensure that security is integrated into all aspects of the platform.
Your challenges and objectives
- Achieve a deep understanding of our sophisticated infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the rest of our engineering teams in the design of a robust security layer.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in our security infrastructure and propose solutions.
- Participate in defining standards with a DevSecOps/SRE mindset and promote them.
- Design and automate complex operations to scale in distributed datacenters around the world.
- Ensure fluid communication between the engineering security area and others.

Your day-to-day activities
- Build security configurations and system tools.
- Investigate new vulnerabilities and remediations.
- Create automations for all security fields (Red, Blue, Incidents).
- Improve monitoring and alerting.
- Provide a Security Platform as a Service.
- Staying up-to-date on the latest security technologies and trends, and making recommendations for implementing them.
- Analyze the specifications of our deployments and provide security for them.
- Implement security projects.
- Build continuous security testing

About you
**Minimum qualifications**:

- Software development skills and methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, including servers and database hardening.
- Knowledge of automation: configuration management (e.g. Puppet), and/or infrastructure management technologies (Packer, Terraform, Virtualization, etc.).
- Strong programming skills in at least one language (e.g.: Python, Java, Bash).

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Understanding of networking, firewalls, and intrusion detection and prevention systems.
- Knowledge of data encryption and key management, hybrid cloud security systems, and data protection (datacenters & AWS).
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools, pen tests, incident detection and response.
- Cloud administration and containerization experience with technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, and OpenStack are a big plus.
- Experience in product as a service operation.
- Any security certification is a plus.
