**Bioinformatics Associate**

**Discovery - Medical & Scientific Expertise Center**

We help clients reinvent pharma discovery, elucidate disease biology, innovate novel therapeutics, and accelerate drug development to create breakthrough science and increase the probability of R&D success and patient outcomes. We’re passionate about accelerating transformation in research and early development so clients can build capabilities in programmable biology across therapeutic modalities. Our integrated approach is multidisciplinary and led by science.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Perform in-depth analysis of and draw insights from ‘omics’ data, including **Single-Cell Transcriptomics** and **Spatial Transcriptomics**data.
- Develop scripts for the automation of ‘omics’ data analysis tasks, using Python, R and/or Bash.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of **'omics' data processing pipelines** using workflow systems such as Nextflow.
- Offer support to technical teams involved in building bioinformatics pipelines.
- Explore bioinformatics tools or platforms for projects, including those from external partners and startups.
- Engage with biomedical science specialists:
- Learn about and understand hypotheses, entities involved, and laboratory techniques/assays.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to frame scientific questions and insights.
- Contribute to the design of bioinformatics studies and analyses.
- Research alternative bioinformatics methodologies and techniques.
- Plan and execute data management, cleaning, and integration activities:
- Identify and prioritize relevant datasets and data sources for analysis.
- Assist in linking internal datasets to external resources or biomedical ontologies.
- Support the creation of a strategy for desired bioinformatics analysis outcomes:
- Catalog and evaluate available biomedical and bioinformatics datasets.
- Troubleshoot errors and identify potential improvements in analysis scripts.
- Propose alternative datasets for bioinformatics analytics problems.
- Communicate bioinformatics findings:
- Assist in creating client readouts, internal talks, or research papers.

**What You’ll Bring**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical informatics, Bioengineering, Biology, Data Science
- Demonstrated expertise in **'omics' data analysis**, with a preference for experience in **Single-Cell Transcriptomics**.
- ** Proficiency in programming** languages such as Python and/or R.
- Good **statistical analysis** skills.
- Experience with **Bash scripting** and working in **Linux/Unix** environments.
- Strong **communication and collaboration** skills.
- Ability to work independently.

**Additional Skills (nice to have)**:

- Experience with other **single-cell technologies** (e.g. Cytometry, Spatial Transcriptomics), metabolomics or proteomics.
- Familiarity working in **collaborative coding** environments, e.g. using Git.
- Background in **academic research** or **bioinformatics analytics** development.
- Familiarity with containerization tools like **Docker/Singularity**, workflow management systems like **Nextflow/Snakemake**, and experience with **Cloud** **Computing** and/or **High-Performance Computing (HPC)** systems.
