Technical Managers are leaders in charge of providing guidance and finding solutions to technical problems for a **Portfolio** within the **Organization**.

Actively involved in hiring, promotions, pre-sales activities, role changes, or internal movements that impact the company or their corresponding projects within their portfolio.

Technical managers enforce alignment of the practices at HALO across the organization, ensuring the product's appropriate time to market.

**Responsibilities**:

- Engagement and Collaboration: Collaborate directly with the Halo Delivery Manager and client stakeholders to strategize engagement approaches, address escalated issues, and ensure successful contract renewals.
- Enforcement of Standards: Champion and uphold the standards established by Practice Managers across the organization, ensuring consistency and quality in deliverables.
- Project Progress Monitoring: Monitor the progress of portfolio projects, with a strong emphasis on technical quality and adherence to project timelines.
- Technical Strategy: Collaborate with technical leads and directors to define and execute company-wide technical strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Staffing and Talent Management: Take ownership of engineering staffing initiatives, implementing staffing plans across the portfolio and addressing staffing gaps as needed.
- Technical Leadership Support:Support Technical Leads by resolving technical roadblocks and guiding architectural decision-making. Delegate tasks to Principal or Distinguished Engineers when appropriate.
- Mentorship and Feedback: Provide mentorship and valuable performance feedback to Technical Leads, fostering professional growth within the team.
- Performance Management: Ensure that performance feedback is effectively communicated and documented for all engineers within the Portfolio.
- Career Development: Oversee the adherence to promotion and career development paths, identifying and addressing any gaps.
- Pre-Sales Involvement: Represent Halo's interests during business negotiations, contributing high-level estimations, staffing plans (ramp-ups and downs), and active participation in technical sales.
- Financial Acumen: Understand project financials to optimize revenue and margins while aligning with career growth trajectories of team members.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
- 5+ years of proven experience in a technical leadership role, managing complex projects or portfolios.
- Strong understanding of technical best practices and software development methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and provide effective leadership.
- Experience in pre-sales activities, contract negotiations, and project financials is a plus.
