Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) is one of IFC’s key industry groups responsible for a significant portion of IFC’s business volume, profitability and development reach. MAS engages in a wide range of sub-sectors including manufacturing, chemicals, healthcare, education, property, retail, tourism, agribusiness, forestry -among others-, with both investment and advisory services delivered globally to IFC’s clients through its global network.

The MAS Latin America and the Caribbean (MAS LAC) team is seeking a qualified and experienced Investment Officer to originate, structure, execute, and lead portfolio engagement in the Manufacturing and Services investments in the Southern Cone Region. Through an extended local presence, MAS LAC is aiming to increase the level of investments and engagements with new clients through comprehensive value-added propositions including mainstream and/or Upstream initiatives. The development of local relationships, the understanding of the local business environment will be core to this position. The position will be based in Buenos Aires.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Lead IFC’s business development strategy for Manufacturing, Health, Education, Tourism, Retail and Properties (M&S) in the Southern Cone Region, or any variation of these sectors as per the department's business needs.
- Lead the scoping process and identify priority companies to target as desired IFC clients, considering the strategic areas of focus in the countries within the Southern Cone Region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with target companies in the M&S sectors as well as with banks, financial advisors and multilateral partners operating in the region.
- Engage in local sector events to represent IFC as part of the business development activities.
- Work independently and with more senior staff to develop a strong pipeline of good quality and impactful investment opportunities.
- Considering the potential client’s needs and IFC priorities, structure bankable transactions and prepare and present IFC Investment proposals to clients.
- Lead the presentation of PDS-Concepts through the approval process.
- Lead negotiations of mandate letters by leveraging financial experience and interpersonal capacity to overcome impasses and reach successful outcomes.
- Lead structuring, processing and negotiation of investment transactions throughout the IFC project cycle.
- Lead Portfolio engagement for a select number of clients.
- Mentor junior staff on all aspects of IO work.
- Coordinate closely with upstream, advisory teams to add value to our clients' businesses, find pragmatic solutions to sectors' challenges, and achieve sustainable development impact.

**Selection Criteria**
- MBA or equivalent qualification.
- 8+ years of experience in finance with a proven track record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments.
- Extensive experience in financing and supervision work in M&S sectors; multisector experience a plus.
- Strong financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments and process complex transactions.
- Business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on client’s needs effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Ability to interact directly and independently with senior management of clients and prospects.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to mentor more junior staff.
- Genuine commitment to sustainable development and to the highest ethical standards.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
